About me
I’m Dallas N. Antley, another random tech-enabled person making my little mark on the Internet. Like many other system administrators, I started hacking (the good way) computer systems even before I had a driver’s license. A child of the integrated circuit, I’ve programmed TRS-80s, maintained a gopher hole, compiled the NCSA HTTP daemon, and installed the Mosaic client on more computers than I probably should have. I use Google and Wikipedia as surrogate brains.
I’m a proponent of using open-source technology for security purposes, as it makes it much easier for me to my job to find and fix problems. I believe information technology is still more of an art than a science, although I look forward to one day seeing a proper licensing system in place that can keep apace of technological updates.
While accused of being an IT generalist, I tend to focus on automating practical network reliability and security for larger Unix and Windows-based networks in educational environments.
